Mission Statement and Governance

Mission

The NeuroPoint Alliance (NPA) is a 501(c)(6) affiliate nonprofit organization of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). The NPA was established in 2008 and is dedicated to improving the quality, safety and effectiveness of neurosurgical care through the acquisition, analysis and dissemination of clinical data via registry and outcomes science.

Goals & Objectives

The NPA is designed to meet the quality improvement and research needs of physicians and allied health care professionals, health care plans, the biomedical industry and government agencies. To accomplish this, the NPA spearheads and manages various clinical data registries and studies. Clinical data registries are valuable tools to support evidence development, performance assessment, comparative effectiveness studies and adoption of new treatments into routine clinical practice.

The NPA’s goals include:

  1. Neurosurgeons are better equipped to develop safe, effective, high quality care plans with validated clinical evidence.
  2. Patients choose therapies based on evidence gathered from real world clinical scenarios, informed choice and personal priorities.
  3. Developers of new therapies are better equipped to develop safe effective, high quality care plans validated by clinical evidence.
  4. The NPA is recognized for contributions to outcome research that guide state of the art, high quality and effective neurosurgical care.

The NPA is supported by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation (NREF), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS), the Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS) and the AANS/CNS Section on Spine and Peripheral Nerves.
