How to Support the NREF
Shop and Give
Throughout the year, proceeds from selected purchases made through Shopping Gives, iGive.com or AmazonSmile benefit the NREF.
Register at AmazonSmile, Shopping Gives or iGive.com and designate the NREF as your preferred charity. By using AmazonSmile, 0.5% of the price of select items will be donated to the NREF at no additional cost to you. iGive.com has over 1,700 online stores available and the NREF receives a donation whenever you shop via their site. With Shopping Gives, top retailers and brands, including Nordstrom, Target and Macy’s, will donate a percentage of each purchase to the NREF at no extra cost.
Planned Gifts
The NREF offers donors a variety of Charitable Planning Strategies, including planned gifts, bequests, stock transfers, royalties and more. Individuals should talk with their personal tax advisor or financial planner to determine which charitable giving strategy is best.
Memorials & Tributes
The Celebrate a Life program is an opportunity for neurosurgeons, patients and their families and friends to make a gift in support of neurosurgical education and research, while allowing them to honor someone special or the memory of someone who is no longer with them.
Donor-advised Funds
Individuals can contribute to the NREF through a Donor-advised Fund – a philanthropic vehicle that allows donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax benefit and then recommend distribution from the fund to the NREF over time.
Matching Gifts
If an employer participates in a matching gifts program, the proper forms are available from their personnel department.

Reminder: If paying by check, please include a note in the memo field that directs your donation to the desired fund. Receipts for your tax-deductible donation will be made out to the payor on the check. Donations from institutions on behalf of an individual should include the individual donor’s name on the check, so the contribution can be properly recorded.
