AANS Online Education
In Fiscal Year 2019, the AANS continued to expand its online education portfolio to improve access and address membership needs. You can access more courses, whitepapers and CME credits anywhere in the world. The robust library added new innovative courses:
- Goodman Step One: Live Stream: This new course provides an innovative way to access the best of Oral Board Exam prep for the ABNS Oral Board Exam.
- New Practice Management online resources: These tools help to increase reimbursement or address coding nuances.
In 2019, the AANS had 5,656 registrations for online courses, an 85% increase from the prior fiscal year.

Over 90% of diplomats prepare for the pivotal ABNS Oral Board Exam with the AANS Goodman Oral Board Preparation course. The AANS supports preparation as the exam evolves through interactive training and mock exams. Highly respected faculty monitor changes in the exam and design mock exams that prepare attendees for success at this crucial moment in their career.
Managing Coding and Reimbursement in Neurosurgery
Through hands-on training, this course trains clinical, professional and administrative staff to recognize the implications of quality reports, increase reimbursement and focus more on the patient.
From Cranial to Spine: An Overview of Neurosurgical Topics for the Advanced Practice Provider
The AANS is one of the few groups that trains and supports advanced practice providers in neurosurgery. Approximately 300 nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) participated in hands-on training and case discussions so they can immediately return to practice with new skills.
